If there's something Eureka Surveys knows how to do best, it's how to make money while diving into the fascinating depths of collective consciousness. As part of our continuing mission to provide free paid surveys and help you make money online, we've delved into one of the oldest superstitions: The unfortunate number 13.

Engaging over 35,000 people in our paid surveys, we sought to understand whether the number 13 stirred fear in the hearts of our respondents or if it’s simply ‘another number’ to them. The results were as intriguing as they were revealing.

Is 13 Just a Number, or an Omen of Bad Luck?

An impressive 52.9% of respondents confidently brushed off any superstitions, stating they don’t believe the number 13 brings bad luck. Could this be an indication of a society less guided by superstitions and more by logic and science? Or could it be the influence of widely varied cultural beliefs where some, such as the Chinese, look upon 13 as a lucky number? The whys to this would make for an interesting follow-up survey.

Interestingly, in contrast, 20.6% of poll takers did indeed harbor reservations, affirming their belief that 13 is unlucky. Their reasons could range from cultural beliefs to personal experiences or they may be among the 60 million people worldwide claimed to be affected by Triskaidekaphobia, fear of the number 13. Yet again, another exciting aspect worth exploring in future surveys.

The Uncertainty Ranges Wide

However, it must be mentioned that a significant 16.4% of participants held no strong beliefs either way, and a final 10.1% were uncertain. It seems the jury is still out on the number 13. These figures remind us that superstitions, despite seeming outdated in our fast-paced, tech-driven world, persist in the minds of many, unable to be ignored completely.

Not only do these results provide a fascinating insight into the human psyche, but they also remind us of the importance of exploring societal beliefs, no matter how uncanny they may seem.
